§ 22-145. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Intangible property means and includes:

    (1)

    Any utility deposit, including any interest thereon, made by a user or customer of a town utility to secure payment or any sum paid in advance that has remained unclaimed for more than one year after termination of the service for which the deposit or advance payment was made;

    (2)

    Any other money, check, draft, deposit, interest and income, prepayment, credit balance, or customer overpayment, gift certificate, refund, credit memo, or other unidentified remittance; or

    (3)

    Unpaid wages, including wages represented by a payroll check not presented for payment.

    Person or people means an individual, business association, state or other government, governmental subdivision or agency, public corporation, public authority, trust, estate, two or more people having a joint or common interest, or any other legal or commercial entity.
