§ 24-27. Water sprinkling hours—Generally.

  • (a)

    For all premises not having a permit to use an automatic sprinkler system under section 24-28, water sprinkling hours for all premises bearing odd-numbered street addresses shall be from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the odd days of the month, except on the 31st day of each month when sprinkling hours shall be from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and water sprinkling hours for all premises bearing even-numbered street addresses shall be from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the even days of the month, except on the 31st day of each month when sprinkling hours shall be from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    (b)

    A nonrenewable special permit to use water to sprinkle newly seeded or newly sodden grass lawns each day between the hours provided in this section for 20 consecutive days may be obtained, one time each growing season, from the town clerk. For such permit a fee shall be charged, established from time to time by the board of trustees, in such amount as will reimburse the town for its expenses in issuing such permit.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful and an offense for any person, firm or corporation to allow municipally-supplied water for sprinkling or irrigation to be run or used at hours and days other than as permitted by this article or this section.
