§ 24-28. Same—Automatically timed underground sprinkler systems.

  • (a)

    In lieu of sprinkling in accordance with section 24-27, permanently constructed automatically timed underground systems, for which a permit from the town clerk shall be obtained, may be permitted to operate for the purpose of sprinkling between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each day of the month. Any such permit shall be for the term of one calendar year only and shall be renewed each year by application by the owner or occupant of the premises.

    (b)

    A nonrenewable special exemption permit to use water to sprinkle newly seeded or newly sodded grass lawns each day with automatically timed sprinkling systems between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for 20 consecutive days may be obtained from the town clerk. For such permit a fee shall be charged, established from time to time by the board of trustees, in such amount as will reimburse the town for its expenses in issuing such permit.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation having a sprinkling system permit under this section to also sprinkle or irrigate by any means whatsoever during those days and hours specified by section 24-27, or to allow municipally-supplied outside water for sprinkling or irrigation by automatically timed sprinkler systems to be run or used in violation of the provisions of this article or this section.
